Location:
The TPS is located within or on the side of the throttle body or carburetor.
The Throttle Position Sensor identifies the position of the throttle plate to the
engine computer. The signal voltage will be approximately 0.2-1.0 volt at idle and up to 4.6
volts at wide open throttle.
Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination, failed emission test,
engine hesitation on light acceleration, engine hesitation during a cruise, automatic
transmission shifting condition=Features & Benefits:
Their Throttle Position Sensors maintain specific installed outputs to match OE rather than adjustable consolidated designs
Circuits are printed on flexible polyimide film or ceramic-based substrates for excellent dimensional stability preventing electrical performance drift. Noble palladium/gold/platinum alloys provide low contact resistance for extended service life
Each TPS uses integral rotor bearings and return springs for easy installation
Each sensor undergoes rigorous end-of-line testing with thousands of data points to validate output voltages for optimum performance and trouble-free operation

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Failure:
TPS sensors often fail due to high heat under the hood and constant contact from the wiper arm.

Signs of a Faulty Sensor:
Check Engine Light with codes ranging from P0120 through P0125
Engine hesitation when accelerating
