Throttle Position Sensor
(TPS)
What It Does:
The Throttle Position Sensor identifies the position of the throttle plate to the
engine computer. The signal voltage will be approximately 0.2-1.0 volt at idle and up to 4.6
volts at wide open throttle.
Location: The TPS is located within or on the side of the throttle body or carburetor.
Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination, failed emission test,
engine hesitation on light acceleration, engine hesitation during a cruise, automatic
transmission shifting condition.

El sensor de posición del acelerador identifica la posición de la placa del acelerador en la computadora del motor. El voltaje de la señal será de aproximadamente 0.2-1.0 voltios en ralentí y hasta 4.6 voltios con el acelerador completamente abierto. Ubicación: El TPS está ubicado dentro o al costado del cuerpo del acelerador o carburador.
