Transmission Speed Sensor (TSS)
What It Does: The Transmission Speed Sensor monitors the speed of the automatic
transmission input shaft and output shaft to verify what gear the transmission is in and to
monitor the transmission for internal slippage.
Location: The Transmission Speed Sensors are located in various positions on the
transmission housing
Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination, transmission slippage,
transmission may default to second gear, cruise control failure
