(TPS) Throttle Position Sensor
Location:
The TPS is located within or on the side of the throttle body or carburetor
What It Does:
The Throttle Position Sensor identifies the position of the throttle plate to the
engine computer. The signal voltage will be approximately 0.2-1.0 volt at idle and up to 4.6
volts at wide open throttle.
Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light illumination, failed emission test
engine hesitation on light acceleration, engine hesitation during a cruise, automatic
transmission shifting condition.
